English: Portland, OR (Jun. 7, 2002) -- U.S. Navy reservists from the tank landing ship, USS Frederick (LST 1184), visit with Tyler Upmeyer, a patient at the Portland Shriner’s Hospital during community support projects in the Portland area. Nicknamed “Fast Freddy,” Frederick is the last of the Newport class of tank landing ships. Frederick departed Hawaii for a port visit in Portland, OR, to participate in the annual Portland Rose Festival. USS Frederick is slated for decommissioning at Pearl Harbor, HI, on October 5th, ending thirty-two years of commissioned service. U.S. Navy photo by Journalist 2nd Class Mike Miller. (RELEASED)
