Description
English: St Peter Claver Catholic Church. Dedicated in 1892 and named for a 16th century saint who fought the slave trade, this was the first Roman Catholic church for Blacks in the city. It has served as a Black community cultural center since the 1920's. (Historical Marker at 1200 Locust St Philadelphia PA - PA Historical & Museum Commission 2005)
