Notes Notes from Marc Salz, salzmines.blogspot.com, 2010-06-24:
Around 1962, Sam Salz (my father) donated a painting to the Kennedy White House titled "The Signing of The Declaration of Independence" by the French artist Charles Édouard Armand-Dumaresq (1826-1895). He wanted to give a gift to America for having welcomed him after his escape from Nazi dominated Europe. In the late eighties, First Lady Barbara Bush decided to hang the painting over the fireplace in the Cabinet Room. It has been there ever since.

This image needs restoration. If the old version is still useful, for example if restoring the image will alter the image significantly, upload the new version under a different title so that both can be used (e.g. [[File:Mount_Everest.jpg]] → [[File:Mount_Everest - restored.jpg]]. After uploading the restored version, replace this template with: {{ superseded|File:Mount Everest - restored.jpg|image restored}}, replacing the italicised name with the file name in question.
