English: A 500 mb height chart of Hurricane Hilda 1955 striking the Gulf Coast of Mexico. This map, not to be confused with a surface map, shows the cyclone at the 500 mb level of the atmosphere, or about 19,000 meters up. The contours show 500 mb height in meters above the surface
