Summary

Description
English: Ilustration of the movements of a scallop "swimming" (rather than "jumping"). Water is drawn in through the open valves and then is expelled through either the anterior exhalant aperture or the posterior exhalant aperture, with expulsions occurring through alternating aperatures. The net effect of ventral movement is achieved through a rapid zig-zag motion.
