A composed satellite photograph of
Northern Europe in
orthographic projection. This is NASA
"Blue Marble" image applied as a texture on a sphere using
Art of Illusion program. In the original image the observer is centered at (50° N, 20° E), at
Moon distance above the
Earth. The cropped image has been rotated -7 degrees to reflect the center of the cropped frame being at 9° E.
This is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: Only Northern Europe is shown. The original can be viewed here: Europe satellite orthographic.jpg: . Modifications made by
Hayden120.
The NASA website hosts a large number of images from the
Soviet/
Russian space agency, and other non-American space agencies. These are not necessarily in the public domain.

SOHO (ESA & NASA) joint project implies that all materials created by its probe are copyrighted and require permission for commercial non-educational use.

Rotated to reflect the change in perspective from the original orthographic projection (around 7 degree, since the cropped image is framed with Denmark/Norway's longitude at the centre). Also reduced saturation.
