Description
The previous church

This church, dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours, is at 32°38′56″N 16°56′38″W / 32.649°N -16.944°E / 32.649; -16.944 in Rua da Igreja, São Martinho, Funchal, Madeira. It is in a very prominent position on the summit of the Pico das Arrudas. It was built in 1927 to replace an older church which still stands nearby. ( Entry on the diocesan website.)

The top of the Centro Cívico can be seen below the church and in the foreground are tombs in the church's cemetery.
