I made sure to include the platform signage in the frame, so you won't think I'm trying to sneak in a train photo snapped in a Starbucks parking lot.
León is about 337 kilometers / 209 miles northwest of Madrid. I am far too lazy for detailed Sherlocking of transit schedules, but a quick look at renfe.com suggests that the tourist may choose from fourteen daily departures, and that half of said departures will cover the shlep in two and a quarter hours. Equivalent Northern California service might offer as many daily trains from San Francisco to Reno, 217 miles northeast, or Redding, 215 miles north.
