Summary

Description
English: View of a raised beach with wavecut notch and sea caves uplifted by about 9 m during the 365 AD Crete earthquake, at West Kalamia, about 2 km west of Paleochora. The beach deposit of well-rounded pebbles is covered by calcareous algal reefs, radiocarbon dated to about 3,000 years BP [1]. At least 6 paleo shorelines have now been identified at this site at elevations of 9m, 14m, 17m, 34m, 55m & 75m ( doi: 10.1038/srep05677).
