Red Squirrels are an important part of our environment, our heritage and our culture in Wales.

To help give the population a boost, we have released 7 red squirrels in Clocaenog forest.

The Red Squirrels United (RSU) project helped us build two enclosures. These provide a safe base for the squirrels as they get used to their new home. After 4 weeks the enclosures were opened and we placed nest boxes and feeders in the forest.

The squirrels will be monitored closely by RSU volunteers over the coming months and years and we will be tracking their progress.

We hope to release more squirrels here this year to help make the population stronger for the future.
