English: Title: "Gishi seppuku no zu" (義士切腹之図). Meaning: "Loyal Retainer Seppuku Illustration." (Gishi "義士" means loyal retainer) . The name Oishi (大石) is written above the seated man. So this is Oishi Yoshio (1659-1703) the leader of the Forty-seven Rōnin who was sentenced to commit seppuku in 1703. Notes: 68.6 x 98.5 cm (External dimensions: 144.2 x 105.0 cm), Box title: Ako Gishi Seppuku, partly colored on paper in red, scroll binding, stamp: Hanho Shoya Tosho no Ki (?), former collection of Sanae Takada.
