Fair Use Rationale

Although this picture is subject to copyright, it is allowed for fair use because the use of a single cover "to illustrate an article discussing the book in question" is allowed. Specifically:

• 1. it is a low resolution copy of a book cover;
• 2. it does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the book in any way; this version of the book is out of print
• 3. copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the cover artwork on another book;

In each case, the article is used on a page about the book's author/editor. This the authors' only book, and the bulk of the article is spent discussing this book.

Licensing

This image is of book cover(s), and the copyright for it is most likely owned either by the artist who created the cover(s) or the publisher of the book(s). It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of book covers to illustrate an article discussing the book in question on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, qualifies as fair use under the copyright law of the United States.
