Deutsch: "Das werk sfs , das lange Zeit als eine Arbeit von Hyacinthe Rigaud galt und gelegentlich auch Louis Tocqué zurgeschrieben wurde, wurde kürzlich von Jean-Jacques Petit als eine Arbeit von Hubert Drouais identiziert (mdl. gegenüber dem Vorbesitzer). Inder elegant gedrehten Körperhaltung und dem üppigen Smtumhang erinnert das Bildnis as das 1730 entstandene Portrait des Bildhauers Robert Le Lorrain (Louvre, Paris). - Der Marquis d'Angervilliers, der hier möglicherweise dargestellt ist, war von 1728 bis zu seinem Tod Kriegsminister unter König Louis XV."
