Strix aluco

Dansk: Større foto af udstoppede natugler fra Naturhistorisk Museum i Århus Fuglen til venstre er en han fra Falster, fanget i 1944. Denne fugl har den traditionelle brunlige fjerdragt. Fuglen til højre er en ung hun fra Kvottrup, fanget i 1926. Den har den mest udbredte fjerdragt i Danmark - den rødbrune.

The tawny owl, Strix aluco, is an example of tawny used as an adjective in a name. Latin scientific names may use the adjective fulvus, or variations, meaning tawny or fulvous. An example is Cinnycerthia fulva, the binomial name of the fulvous wren.
