The city also enjoys the reputation of be- ing one of the leading cities of the Red River Valley. When Clay County was organized Moorhead became and is still the county seat. The city has a population of about 5,500 and has all the improvements that a city of many times the population might be expect- ed to have. It is on the main line of the North- ern Pacific and on both the Fergus Falls and Breckenridge lines of the Great Northern, besides being the ter- minus of several of the branch lines
