Photo of Romneya (Matilija poppy) at the San Francisco Botanical Garden, taken July 2004 by User:Stan Shebs; white poppy; weißer Mohn

(The species of this individual is entirely unclear. The label says R. coulteri, but of the four pictures I took, one (not uploaded) shows sepals in two buds that are quite smooth, while this one shows bud sepals that seem to have a few hairs. The setting in SFBG is semi-natural, and it's entirely possible that this individual is some sort of hybrid or intermediate form; some authorities consider R. trichocalyx to be a variety of R. coulteri. In any case it seems prudent not to claim a species id. -sts)
