Summary

Description
English: Front cover story, "Maine's Last Muster", from Harper's Weekly, March 30, 1912. The cover story is about the burial of the remains of 66 sailors recovered from the salvage of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor, Cuba. The Maine exploded under mysterious circumstances on February 15, 1898, precipitating the Spanish-American War. About 166 dead were recovered at that time. When the ship was finally salvaged in 1910-1913, more remains were recovered. A full-military honors funeral was held at Arlington National Cemetery on March 23, 1912, presided over by President William Howard Taft.
