English: The Oseberg Ship in the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo (Vikingskipshuset).
This boat, unearthed in 1904, was built between 815 and 820 and was used as a burial boat for a high-ranking woman who died in 834. The body lay in a wooden burial chamber placed on the deck. Around the body were discovered numerous wooden, leather and textile objects. The boat, 22 m long, is made of oak wood. It featured 30 rowers and was not a boat built for the high seas. The museum presents three very well preserved Viking ships, as well as objects, which were discovered in three burial mounds near the Oslo Fjord.
