DescriptionKristin Perry and Sandra Stier, San Francisco Pride 2013.jpg
I am visiting San Francisco for the Pride weekend - one that turned out to be the most historic of them all, thanks to the Supreme Court rulings that legal same-sex marriages cannot be denied federal benefits, and that Proposition 8, which had banned same-sex marriages in California in late 2008, is dead on a legal technicality.
In fact, California's same-sex marriages resumed two days prior, and this couple, Kristin Perry and Sandra Stier, was the first to tie the knot in San Francisco. They had also been the plaintiffs in the federal case (Perry v. Schwarzenegger - later became Hollingsworth v. Perry when Prop 8 supporters appealed the ruling), that resulted in Proposition 8 being voided.
