Kharput_Christian_refugees_-_C.D.Morris_-_National_Geographic,_Nov._1925.jpg(500 × 334 pixels, file size: 101 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Summary

Description
English: A caravan of 5,000 Christian refugees from Kharput (now Elazig) to Trebizond (now Trabzon). Story of Near East Relief states that it was a caravan of children from orphanages evacuated by Near East Relief. Author Tasos Kastopoulos states in Πόλεμος και Εθνοκάθαρση: Η ξεχασμένη πλευρά μιας δεκαετούς εθνικής εξόρμησης (1912-1922) ("War and Ethnic Cleansing: The forgotten side of a ten-year national campaign (1912-1922)") that the photo depicts Greek refugees, not Armenian ones, and that usage of the photo to represent the Armenian genocide and/or labor battalions is inaccurate.
