English: I've always had a soft spot for the Class 153 units. I remember when they were first introduced into traffic in the Norwich area that the design of the windows gave them an almost continental feel. Today I travel on them mainly in the Cardiff area (particularly on the Coryton branch where they are used by Arriva Trains Wales), but when this photo was taken in the early 1990s I lived in Norfolk, and they were still painted in Regional Railways livery. I always thought this was a smart livery, and it seemed to suit the 153s. The photo shows a scene of transition, with the 153 stabled among first generation Class 101 DMUs. Some of those were also painted in the Regional Railways livery, and also looked very smart. The Class 153s still work in Norfolk, the local services now in the hands of Abellio Greater Anglia.
