Español: El Centro de Estudios Árabes de la Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades de la Universidad de Chile realizó -entre los días los días 12,13 y 14 de mayo- el Ciclo de Conferencias "Pensar Palestina", que dictó el prestigioso académico del Departamento de Estudios del Medio Oriente, Sudasiáticos y Africanos la Universidad de Columbia, Joseph Massad.

Joseph Massad, nacido en Jordania en 1963, se doctoró en Ciencias Políticas en la Universidad de Columbia en 1998. Enseña y escribe sobre política árabe moderna e historia intelectual. Ha tenido un particular interés en teorías sobre identidad y cultura, incluyendo teoría sobre el nacionalismo, la sexualidad, la raza y religión.

Es autor del premiado libro Desiring Arabs (2007) sobre la cultura y la sexualidad árabe, además de The Persistence of the Palestinian Question: Essays on Zionism and the Palestinian Question (2006); y Colonial Effects: The Making of National Identity in Jordan (2001).

El profesor Massad dictó la conferencia "El semitismo y lo abrahámico: Edward Said y Jacques Derrida" el pasado lunes 12 de mayo, a las 19:00 horas en el Auditorio Prof. Rolando Mellafe de la Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades de la Universidad de Chile.
