| Description |
Nederlands: Een afbeelding van een feest in het huis van het Nederlandse opperhoofd De Sturler op Deshima in 1825. Het is lang de gewoonte geweest van opperhoofden om alle Japanse tolken en ambtenaren uit Nagasaki op 1 januari uit te nodigen voor een diner. Deze voorstelling geeft echter een bijeenkomst weer ter ere van de verjaardag van koning Willem I. Traditioneel viel deze feestdag op 24 augustus, maar in 1825 moest deze naar een latere datum worden verschoven. De reden was dat het schip de Johanna Elisabeth op 25 augustus arriveerde. De viering had nu op 8 oktober 1825 plaats. Op deze prent zijn rond de tafel het het opperhoofd J.W. de Sturler (midden), zijn zoon J.E. de Sturler (onder), kaptein Bezemer (rechts), P.F. von Siebold (links) te zien. Mogelijk is de staande persoon links ambtenaar Verkerk Pistorius of pakhuismeester Van Overmeer Fisscher . Er zijn twee Japanners van hoogstwaarschijnlijk de Samurai-klasse afgebeeld. Verder zijn er 3 Japanse geisha's en een Indische bediende te zien.
English: A depiction of a party in the house of the Dutch chief De Sturler of Dejima. It has been a custom for a long time to invite the Japanese interpreters and civil servants from Nagasaki to a dinner party on January 1st. However on this print the birthday of king William 1 of the Netherlands is celebrated.
