Public domain This image or media file contains material based on a work of a National Park Service employee, created as part of that person's official duties. As a work of the U.S. federal government, such work is in the public domain in the United States. See the NPS website and NPS copyright policy for more information.

Note: Although the NPS Photograph Collection record does not indicate the copyright status of the photo, it does state that it was photographed by Carl Parcher Russell around 1929. At the time, Mr. Russell was a naturalist in Yosemite National Park, a Park Service employee from 1923-1957 (see One Hundred Years in Yosemite [2]). As he is photographing another government employee who is on duty (in NPS uniform) it is nearly certain that Mr. Russell was on duty at the time as well.
