Summary

Description
English: Engine No. 22 firehouse, 1522 Broadway, Buffalo, New York, May 2020. Built in 1890, the Romanesque Revival design of the building is attributed to August Esenwein (it's possibly his earliest surviving building, predating his partnership with James Johnson by seven years), yet it's very similar to the Hugh MacDiarmid-designed Engine No. 16, 18, and 19 fire halls, the main difference being a less prominent cornice, an arched garage entrance, no molded brick archivolts with stone keystones above the windows (though they are present above said arched garage door), and no Eastlake influence in the brickwork. It remains in use today as the second-oldest active firehouse in Buffalo.
