Summary

Description The elephants tuck themselves with fresh grass before they go into the water for a dip. Elephants from neighbouring areas converge on the Minneriya Lake due to availability of fresh food and water during the summer months. I was surprised that the resident herds accept them, as animals are mostly territorial. I am not sure if the elephants cross breed as well. (May/ June 2011)
