DescriptionDrainage channels and shoreline on Titan, by Huygens probe.jpg
English: This is one of the first raw images returned by the
European Space Agency's
Huygens probe during its successfull descent to
Titan. It was taken from an altitude of 16.2 kilometres (10.1 mi) with a resolution of approximately 40 metres (131 ft) per pixel. It apparently shows short, stubby drainage channels leading to a shoreline.
It was taken with the Descent Imager/Spectral Radiometer, one of two
NASA instruments on the probe.
The NASA website hosts a large number of images from the
Soviet/
Russian space agency, and other non-American space agencies. These are not necessarily in the public domain.
The
SOHO (ESA & NASA) joint project implies that all materials created by its probe are copyrighted and require permission for commercial non-educational use.
