Summary

Description
English: Multivariate Pattern Analysis task contrast (alternate uses > object characteristics) revealed a distributed network of voxel clusters associated with divergent thinking. The networkconsisted of several frontal, temporal, and parietal regions, including regions within the default network: the left precuneus, right PCC, and bilateral IPL. The network also included the right DLPFC, a core region of the ECN, as well as the right ACC and bilateral insula, core regions of the salience network2. In addition, the network included several significant clusters within the temporal lobes (e.g., bilateral middle temporal gyri; MTG), regions associated with semantic and episodic memory retrieval. Taken together, the whole-brain MVPA identified a distributed network of brain regions associated with divergent thinking, including several core regions of the default, executive, and salience networks
