redendes Wappen, welches zuletzt 1937 verliehen wurde, das schon auf städtischen Siegeln des 14. Jahrhunderts vorkommt, seit dem Mittelalter. Emmerich erhielt 1233 durch Graf Otto von Geldern Stadtrecht. In Emmerich stehen Wappen und Siegel nebeneinander. Die Farben sind die der Grafen von
Kleve

The arms are canting (bucket) and have been used since the 14th century. Emmerich got city rights in 1233 from Count Otto of Geldern; the colours are the colours of Kleve.
