Summary

Description The synagogue of Congregation Habonim ("Builders") at 44 West 66th Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, was built in 1957-7 and designed by Stanley Prowler and Frank Faillance. The congregation was founded in 1939 by German refugees. The building insludes a column capital from the Fasanenstrasse Synagogue of Berlin and a Torah from the Great Synagogue of Essen, both damaged in Kristallnacht.
