Description
English: Photograph of Civil War officer, Colonel Patrick E. Burke of St Louis. On August 10, 1861 he commanded Company K, 1st Missouri Volunteers, on Bloody Hill, at the Battle of Wilson's Creek. From June of 1862, he commanded the elite "Western Sharpshooters-14th Missouri Volunteers"/" 66th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Western Sharpshooters)". Also commanded 2nd Brigade, 2nd Div, XVI Army Corps, Army of the Tennessee. Mortally wounded at battle of Rome Cross Roads, GA, Mar 16, 1864.
