English: Northwest façade of Chambord castle. Built between 1519 and 1547 by François I, it was heavily extended afterwards by Henri II and Louis XIV to its final shape we know well today. Chambord castle is an example of Renaissance architecture. It is also the largest castle of the Loire valley, measuring 156m long and topping 56m height. A UNESCO world heritage site since 1981.

Construit entre 1519 et 1547 par François Ier, il a été lourdement étendu par la suite par Henri II puis Louis XIV pour prendre la forme que nous connaissons aujourd'hui. Le château de Chambord est un modèle d'architecture de la Renaissance. C'est aussi le plus grand des châteaux de la Loire, mesurant 156 m de long et s'élevant à 56 m de haut. Il est classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO depuis 1981.
