DescriptionAddress to the Colored People of North Carolina Raleigh December 19 1870.jpg
English: Printed broadside signed by 17 members of the North Carolina House of Representatives (presumably African-Americans) warning of the perils of an attempt to remove Republican Governor William Woods Holden from office. Gov. Holden had attempted a crackdown on the Ku Klux Klan, most notably in Alamance and Caswell counties. Holden later became the second American governor to be impeached, and the first to be removed from office.
