English: A.C. Ferrell, father of Ferrellgas CEO James E. Ferrell, opened the then-A.C. Ferrell Butane Gas Company in 1939. James E. Ferrell eventually took over the company, took it national, updated the name to Ferrellgas, and helped build it into one of the nation's largest propane retailers.
