This image could be re-created using
vector graphics as an
SVG file. This has several advantages; see
Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{
vector version available|new image name}}.
It is recommended to name the SVG file “Viruses-10-00597-g001.svg”—then the template
Vector version available (or
Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
Summary
DescriptionViruses-10-00597-g001.png
English: Zika virus (ZIKV) virion structure and genome organization. (A) Schematic representation of ZIKV virion structure: ZIKV virion surface is decorated with the E and M proteins, anchored in a lipid bilayer with an icosahedral-like symmetry. Under the viral lipid bilayer is the nucleocapsid composed of the vRNA genome associated with the C protein. (B) Genome organization and polyprotein processing: ZIKV genome (approximately 10.8 kb) is translated as a single polyprotein that is cleaved co- and post-translationally by viral (arrows) and host (diamonds) proteases to yield the three structural proteins C, M and E; and seven NS proteins NS1, NS2A, NS2B, NS3, NS4A, NS4B and NS5. The 5′ and 3′ untranslated regions (UTR) are indicated as black lines at the end of the viral genome.
