Also known as Hangul, Cervus elaphus hanglu, is a subspecies of European Red Deer and is endemic to Kashmir.Found nowhere else this subspecies is now almost confined to its last home Dachigam National Park near srinagar in Kashmir.
The last surviving population of hangul is said to be around 200 individuals fighting the battle of survival in a small patch of forest in Wester Himalaya, in India.
