DescriptionJohn Poyntz by Hans Holbein the Younger.jpg
English: Portrait of John Poyntz. Black and coloured chalks, pen and Indian ink on pink-primed paper, 29.7 × 23.5 cm,
Royal Collection, Windsor Castle.
According to K. T. Parker, in his study of the Windsor Holbein collection, the drawing has been disfigured by "coarse and scratchy" penwork by another hand (Parker, p. 50). Holbein's left-handed shading is noticeable in the cap. An oil painting by a follower, based on this drawing, records Poyntz as in his 42nd year.
