War memorial, garden walls, balustrades and gate. C18, C19,
and war memorial planned 1920. By Bridgeman and Son. Ashlar.
Classical style. Plinth and Ionic pilasters to entablature and
cornice, side panels with swept parapets. 2 tiers of slate
name panels; niche with statue of St George and the Dragon,
with flanking lion masks holding name panels; side panels with
wreaths; shell to pediment. C18 brick walls to rear and left
return. Front has C19 balustrade from Moxhull Hall, Wishaw,
Warks, 2 urns; left forward return wall and right forward
return balustrading. Gate has large brick piers with ashlar
caps supporting heraldic lions with Lichfield arms, enriched
wrought iron gates and overthrow. Revetting to pool has some
balustrading, but much has been removed. Front balustrade
formerly included with the bridge over Minster Pool (qv).
