Object history
Deutsch: Wiernsheim gehörte seit 1259 dem Kloster Maulbronn und 1504—1806 zum württembergischen Klosteramt Maulbronn. Daran erinnert der goldene Abtsstab, der - von grünem Laub umschlungen auf schwarzem Grund - bereits im Wappen der Gemeinde in der alten Maulbronner Zehntscheuer abgebildet ist. Die Bedeutung der Eichenzweige ist nicht bekannt, sie wurden früher wegen des klösterlichen Weinbaus für Weinlaub gehalten. Die Sterne tauchen in den Siegeln kurz nach 1900 als Schmuckelement zu beiden Seiten des Wappenschildes auf. 1939 erhielt das Wappen seine heutige Gestalt, 1956 wurden die Farben von Wappen und Flagge festgelegt, beide am 12. Dezember 1957 vom Innenministerium verliehen. Von den 1970/74 eingemeindeten Orten gehörte Iptingen einst ebenfalls dem Kloster Maulbronn. Auf die Waldensergründungen Pinache und Serres können jetzt die Sterne auch als Waldensersymbol bezogen.
