Evin Ahmad ( Kurdish: ئەڤین ئەحمەد, romanized: Evîn Ehmed; born 8 June 1990) is a Swedish actress and author. She has been nominated twice for Guldbagge Awards. [1]
Ahmad was born on 8 June 1990 in Stockholm to Kurdish parents. Her father is an actor from Sulaymaniyah in Kurdistan and her mother is from Afrin in Syria. She grew up in the Akalla district of Stockholm where she lived for 22 years. [2]
Ahmad studied at Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. [3] She made her screen debut in 2007 with a film adaptation of Jonas Hassen Khemiri's novel Ett Öga Rött. [4]
She gained recognition in 2019 for her roles in the Danish post-apocalyptic series The Rain and the Swedish crime drama Quicksand. [5]
Ahmad gained wider recognition in 2021 with her portrayal of Leya, the lead character in the Netflix original series Snabba Cash. [6]
In early 2022, Ahmad was cast in the lead role for the Netflix production Who Is Erin Carter?, her first English-language role. The series aired worldwide in late August 2023. [7] [8]
She is in a long-term relationship with actor Ardalan Esmaili. [9]
