Jonatão Katchitetele Eliseu (born November 11, 1987) known as Sapiyossi, is an Angolan singer, composer, dancer, choreographer, artistic director, graphic designer, web developer, and fashion designer. He is a representative of the NGO LINÁLIA (International League of Support for Homes and Boarding Schools in Africa). [1]
In 1997 and 2000 he started music, his initial recordings were made with improvised instruments on cassettes. In 2007 he went to DJ Nelinho's recording studio. In 2007 he debuted on the national stage at Cine Kilumba. After the Angolan Civil War, he used music as a tool to express a message of peace, love, and freedom to those recovering from the conflict in Angola. [2] In 2015, he represented Angola at the VII CPLP Young Creators Biennial in Mozambique, receiving national and international recognition. In 2005, he received regional recognition as Huambo's best singer and dancer. In 2009, he was nominated for the best Angolan singer category in the TV Choice competition. [3] [4] In 2015, he went on national and international tours in Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in Kamako, Tshikapa, and Kinshasa, promoting local artists. In 2015, he signed a contract with the musical group Caso Micha in Angola, ending in 2016, the same year he began his solo musical career. In 2018, he performed a musical tour in five European countries: Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. After experiences refused in exile, he voluntarily left the Fedasil, a Belgian family hosted him, and found support in the Belgian artistic community. [5] He was awarded at the Fishermen's Fair in honor of the 73rd birthday of José Eduardo dos Santos, in Porto Amboim, Angola. In 2016, he released his debut single in Angola," Vão Me ver No binóculo", in the Kuduro music genre, in 2018, "Money Money Money", in Belgium, and 2021, "No The War in Ukraine", "Fenacult", "Sinitralidade", and the album "Cinderela". In 2019 he participated and was the principal of the orchestra concert organized by Globe Aroma, performing in Brussels, Mechelen, and in Paris, France. Sapiyossi attended high school at Helsha-Day school in Huambo in biological sciences (2003 to 2006). He attended VUB Vrije Universiteit Brussel in the Department of Languages and Literatures (2019-2020), he is fluent in six languages: Portuguese, Umbundu, French, English, Spanish and Dutch. [1]
Sapiyossi was born in Angola, Luanda, on November 11, 1987 during the Angolan civil war in a military base called RM 93. He is the son of Senior Officer Eliseu Fadário Kapitango, retired from war telecommunications services, and Mrs. Benita Jonatão, captain of the reserves of the Angolan Armed Forces and health services. Sapiyossi is the father of 3 children. He has nine siblings, seven of whom are alive. [1]
