Ricardo de los Santos Polanco (born October 4, 1965) is a Dominican business administrator and politician who serves as the Senate of the Dominican Republic. [1] [2] [3] He was a Deputy to the Congress of the Dominican Republic for the Sánchez Ramírez province for the period 2016-2020 and is a senator representing the province for the period 2020–2024. [4] [5]
In 2015, Ricardo de los Santos entered politics, when the Modern Revolutionary Party announced that he would be a candidate for deputy for the 2016 elections. He was the winner and elected Deputy for the Sánchez Ramírez province for a four-year term which would culminate in 2020. [6] [7]
In that same year, De los Santos was elected as senator for Sánchez Ramírez province to the national congress, for the national elections of July 5, 2020. [8] On August 10, 2023, he was elected as the new president of the Congress of the Dominican Republic and he was confirmed on August 16 of the same year, replacing Eduardo Estrella. [9] [10] [11]
De los Santos completed his secondary studies at the Liceo Francisco Henríquez y Carvajal located in the city of Cotuí. He later began his higher studies at the Universidad de la Tercera Edad, graduating with a bachelor's degree in business administration, with a master's degree in Organizational communication at TECH Technological University. [12]
De los Santos was born in the Sánchez Ramírez province, October 4, 1965, in the town Platanal Cotui. He worked in agricultural activities and with 11 years of work in the mining sector through the former Rosario Dominicana ( Barrick Gold), where he was in charge of the production department. He had five children with Yudi Andrea Moscoso. [12] [13]
