Born into a modest family in Ksar Said, Gharbi moved to Saint-Denis at 15. His early career in the music industry began after signing with EMI France and later with Virgin Middle East.
Gharbi's family origins were Tunisians, he is the brother of one sibling, a sister. [3] In 2019, he developed a relationship with the former Tunisian president Zin El Abidine Ben Ali daughter Nesrine Ben Ali. [4] They were married and divorced the same year.
Gharbi's music career initially took off in France with Universal Music France and EMI France. His recognition in the music industry was marked by several awards, including the Best Arabian Act at the MTV Europe Music Award in Frankfurt in 2012. [5]
Transitioning from music to business, Gharbi led the Tunisian TV network Hannibal and later chaired TBE Holding. [6] He has been instrumental in launching technological initiatives, including the first Arab/African cryptocurrency platform and a metaverse development platform.
Gharbi was named a Goodwill Ambassador by the International Institute of Microcircuits for Sustainable Agriculture and Medicine in 2017, [7] focusing on combating acute malnutrition and supporting sustainable agriculture in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. His humanitarian initiatives include distributing 1,000 sheep to impoverished families across Tunisia during the COVID-19 pandemic to support nutritional needs during the Eid Al-Adha festival, donating masks and 2,000 bags of food to needy families, and providing essential supplies to the Al-Azizia Othmana Hospital Cancer-Living Facility in Tunis. [8] Additionally, Gharbi has supported child welfare through substantial donations to Tunisian organizations, including 100,000 TND to the Center of Social Welfare of Counseling and Guidance for Children and 50,000 TND to the SOS Guammarth Children’s Village, efforts which have been recognized by the Secretary-General of IIMSAM. [9]
Gharbi's contributions have been recognized widely both in his artistic and humanitarian efforts. He received a nomination for Best Artist of the Middle East at the MTV EMA in 2012 and an award for Best Rapper in the Middle East at the MC International Awards in 2015. [10] [11]Beyond his musical achievements, his humanitarian work as an IIMSAM Goodwill Ambassador has garnered substantial acknowledgment, [12] especially his efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, which include substantial donations to Tunisian medical and child welfare organizations. These contributions have earned him praise from the Secretary-General of IIMSAM, highlighting his impact in both the arts and community welfare.
