Yadavs in Haryana are members of the Yadav community living in the
Indian state of
Haryana. They also know as
Yaduvanshi,
Ahir and
Rao Sahab. They are mostly agriculturists and also make first-rate
soldiers. The
British enlisted them in their Army though they had fought against them in 1857.
[1] According to historian Pran Nath Chopra (1982), The
Yadavs are an important community of
Haryana , although numerically they constitute less than 10 per cent of the total population. Most of them live in the region around Rewari and Narnaul which is therefore known as
Ahirwal or the abode of
Ahirs.
