Development

In March 2020, it was announced that an animated series based on Wings of Fire was in development at Warner Bros. Animation with Ava DuVernay executive producing. [1] Dan Milano, Christa Starr, and Justin Ridge would have been the showrunners. In April 2021, Netflix ordered it for streaming as a 10-episode series at about 40 minutes each. [2] However, in May 2022, Netflix canceled the series. [3]

After the series was dropped by Netflix, a new series development cycle began for Amazon Prime Video with a new creative team executive produced by Marc Resteghini. [4]
