Warrington Worldwide is a local, daily news website and monthly magazine published in Warrington in a magazine format. Originally, founded in April 1968 by David Skentleberry, 1999 it became the first independent online daily newspaper in the United Kingdom and is published by Orbit News Ltd.. ^[1]

The printed version of the monthly magazine is freely distributed in full colour and is available on the website.

The magazine publisher Orbit News Ltd was formed by father and son, David Skentelbery and Gary Skentelbery.

In 2018, the magazine was recognised for achieving a golden "50 years" of independent publishing ^[2], making it one of the longest independently family owned publishing houses in the World.

History

Orbit News Ltd was originally set up as a freelance news agency based in Warrington by David Skentelbery, who previously worked on the Knutsford Guardian, Warrington Guardian, The Post and The Chronicle.

The agency was originally named New Warrington Press Service and was launched in 1968 when Warrington became a New Town.

Gary Skentelbery succeed his father in becoming Editor in 1999.

Original offices for New Warrington Press Service were on Horsemarket Street in Warrington, followed by Froghall Lane.

For the past 20 years, Warrington Worldwide has been based at The New Media Centre in Warrington ^[3]

Hannah Skentelbery became a third-generation family member of the business, appointed as Director of Digital Marketing in July 2021.
