Rick Davis is an American attorney, businessman, and the Regional Director of the Western Regional Office for Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and people with HIV. [1]. Davis received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Riverside, and his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Career:

Prior to joining Lambda Legal, Davis was assistant general counsel and vice president at the multinational financial firm JP Morgan Chase for 20 years [2].

In his work as an LGBTQ+ advocate, Davis has focused his career on expanding Lambda Legal’s organizational reach in eleven Western states with a focus on strategic planning [3], financial development, and media efforts [4]. As part of his financial development work at Lambda Legal, Davis helps organize a yearly gala that recognizes individuals and organizations whose public advocacy and work has furthered LGBTQ+ rights known as the West Coast Liberty Awards.

Past celebrities Davis has helped bring to Lambda Legal's annual West Coast Liberty Awards include former 'N Sync member, Lance Bass, who hosted Lambda Legal's 2013 West Coast Liberty Awards at West Hollywood's London Hotel [5] and " Goldbergs" star Wendi McLendon-Covey who hosted Lambda Legal's 2015 West Coast Liberty Awards at The Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel. In 2016, Davis helped honor " Vampire Diaries" star Kat Graham at the 2016 West Coast Liberty Awards in Beverly Hills [6].

On June 20th, 2018, Davis was unanimously confirmed as the newest member of the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission [7]. Davis was appointed by City Controller Ron Galperin to a five-year term from July 1st, 2018, to June 30th, 2023.

Davis was a member of the UCLA Law Alumni Association Board of Directors [8]
