Menik Hitihamy Mudiyanselage Nimal Bandara is a career Diplomat in the Sri Lanka Foreign Service and is currently serving as the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Education

He is a graduate of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura, [1] [2] and has obtained an MSc Degree in Information Management from Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT). [1] [2]

Sri Lanka Foreign Service

Nimal Bandara joined the Sri Lanka Foreign Serivice in 2000, [2] and has held appointments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including Director General / SAARC, Director General / East Asia, Acting Director General / Economic Affairs & Trade, Director / Middle East, Director / Consular Affairs, Asst. Director / Europe CIS and Latin America, and Asst. Chief of Protocol.

Before being appointed as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Israel he has served in Sri Lanka Missions in Beijing, The Hague, Islamabad, Baghdad, Sri Lankan Director at SAARC Secretariat Kathmandu. [1] He was also the Sri Lankan Consul General in Sydney, [5] [6] [7] and Sri Lankan Consul General in Republic of Cyprus. [8]

During the Israel-Hamas War in 2023, Ambassador Bandara was involved in aiding Sri Lankan nationals living in Israel. [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]
