Raoof was arrested With the invasion of IRGC intelligence agents to his house[7] in
Tehran on October 16 2020 and moved to In ward 2 A of
Evin Prison.[8][9] He was sentenced to 10 years in prison on the charge of "participating in the administration of an illegal group" and eight months on the charge of proselytizing against the Government of Iran.[10][11] The
IRGC Intelligence Organization kept him without leave for eight months, during which time he was denied a lawyer and phone calls, and his family was completely unaware of his condition for several months.[12][13] He was imprisoned in solitary confinement for a long time.[14][15][16]
According to a document that was issued with a very confidential label and signed by Nasiripour, deputy prosecutor and head of the 33rd Prosecutor's Office of Tehran (Holy Martyr), Raoof was accused of founding the "New Communist Party of Iran".[17]
Sentence
Raoof sentenced to 10 years and eight months in prison on the charge of "participating in the administration of an illegal group" on the proselytizing against the
Government of Iran.[18][19] This sentence was reduced to 7 years and 6 months imprisonment in the appeals court.[20]
Reactions
So far, more than 90 trade unions and trade unions worldwide from
Argentina to
England, 12
human rights organizations from Argentina,
Amnesty International, 24 Iranian organizations and groups, and nearly eight hundred artists, lawyers, political activists and activists of the women's movement and Workers from Iran protested the arrest of Mehran Raoof and demanded his release.[21][22][23][24]
Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: "We strongly condemn the sentence given to Mehran Raoof (Raouf). We continue to do all we can to support Mehran and his family, and continue to raise his case at the most senior levels."[25][26][27]
