Evelyn Lorena is an American actress, writer, and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. [1]
Lorena grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina. [2] She was interested in performance from a young age, but didn't decide to pursue it as a career until high school. [3] She attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts. [4]
In the 2010s, Lorena was a member of the Los Angeles-based theatre company CASA 0101. [5] [6] In 2013, she began raising funds to produce a webseries, titled Crash Dance. [7]
Also in the early 2010s, Lorena allowed former classmate Samantha Colicchio to adapt a one-act play she had written into a short film, titled For Her. [8]
In 2021, Lorena received a Latinx Inclusion Fellowship from the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) and Netflix. [9] She used her $20,000 in grant money to finance the production of her short film, Gabriela. [2]
In 2022, Gabriela premiered at LALIFF. [2] [4] The film marked Lorena's first project as a director. [2]
